Discrimination and Reasonable Accommodation

In this case the employee claimed that her employer had failed to accommodate or help her in respect of her disability.

The Workplace Relations Commission observed that her employer showed a lot of goodwill towards her but they had made some mistakes in how they managed their illness.

The employee attended the Company doctor Medmark however her employer had delayed getting the medical review done and also then failed to allow her discuss the outcome.

The Workplace Relations Commission felt that the employee was entitled to have her view heard on what “reasonable accommodation” her employer could provide in respect of her disability.

The employee was awarded €1,000 as the Workplace Relations Commission felt the discrimination was at the “lesser end” of the scale.
