Penalisation – Award of €21,000 For Unlawful Transfer

In a recent Irish Times article, an employee was awarded 21,000 in respect of a claim for penalisation under the Safety Health and Welfare at Work Act 2005, when she alleged that she had been transferred to another location after she raised concerns about how her team was being treated. The Workplace Relations Commission found that her removal was a “very significant act of penalisation” after 18 years of employment.
