Employment Law Case – Change of Work Location

In another recent case published by the Workplace Relations Commission in September, the employee claimed that he was owed money because his employer failed to give him work when he attended his workplace.

The Workplace Relations Commission found that the employee had turned up for work and was entitled to be paid.

Here the employee claimed his employer had forced him to change work location. The employer stated that as the employee had obtained another job, they tried to accommodate him by offering an alternative milk round.

The Workplace Relations Commission found that the employee was unreasonable in insisting he would complete his usual milk round and recommended he take up the new route. The employee was however awarded €500 compensation.

The employee also claimed redundancy in this case but it was found no redundancy situation existed.
