On March 27th 2013 the Minister for Justice Alan Shatter stressed Government support for the Office of the Data Protection Commissioner. In stressing the importance of the role in developing the digital economy, the Minister stated that the Government would continue to provide additional resources to the Office to ensure it could continue to meet the needs of this ever growing sector.Proposals to develop a European “one-stop shop” data protection regime across the EU is expected to place greater demands on the Office if successful.A copy of the full press release is available here
